First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Studies Specialist
The First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) Studies Specialist AQ course builds on Parts I & II, focusing on leadership, curriculum integration, and creating inclusive, culturally responsive school environments, moving from theory to practical leadership by incorporating Indigenous pedagogies, truth and reconciliation, and critical reflection to challenge colonialism and foster a deeper understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and current realities for all educators. Candidates engage in research, demonstrate leadership, explore colonialism's ongoing impacts, and develop strategies for holistic teaching and learning of Indigenous students, applying and extending this learning at a school and system level.

To register, candidates must have the corresponding Part 2 AQ listed on their OCT Certificate of Qualification and Registration. Additionally, candidates require a minimum of 388 days (two years) of successful classroom teaching experience with one year of experience in the AQ subject area, verified by a Supervisory Officer/Official.
A completed Statement of Successful Teaching Experience needs to be submitted to aq-admin@osstf.ca at the time of course registration.
